I Wasn't Drunk, But I Think I Saw a Baldwin?
For once I had a decent weekend. Yeah, part of it was full of drama, but overall, I had a good time both nights. Friday marked the grand opening of a new lounge in White Plains that was actually very nice. The music wasn’t loud and the crowd was chill.
Bryan and Will showed up not to much longer after Chris, Wellerson, and I came in. Of course, as belligerent as Chris gets, he and Wellerson started to go at it later in the night and kind of spoiled things. I’m not even going to go into that shit right now. Boys will be boys.
Sunday, I dragged Wellerson out again to go to the 2005 Billboard Dance Music Summit at some industrial-themed club called Rhone in the city. My friend Joe (www.joebermudez.com) was invited to spin for an hour and invited me and a guest to go. Thank God he hooked us up because admission to get in the place was upwards of $400! Supposedly, there were big industry reps and up-and-coming artists invited and expected to show, BUT…
It wasn’t as extravagant as I thought it would be. However, it was cool to put faces to some of the dance hits that top the charts. Mike Rizzo, Johnny Budz, and Ray Roc were some of the big-name DJs that were there. I didn’t meet them, but I did meet Lucas Prata (pictures to come), who you might know by “Never Be Alone” and “My Ya Hi.” Actually, Rizzo and Roc are in my top 3 of DJs whose remixes I like to listen to, so it was a bit crazy to see those people in person. I think I even spotted Billy Baldwin.
ANYWAY, so it turns out that this bitch might end up leaving by October 7th, which is less than a month away. It’s all happening so fast, I haven’t even figured out how to celebrate. They will never find someone in time before she leaves if that’s the case. The higher powers that be want a 2-week overlap with the new hire, but I doubt that’ll happen.
Several people from my department, including myself, interview the first candidate tomorrow. I’m already on the defensive because she was recommended by my boss. The last thing I need is for things to shift from one delusional bitch to another. When I think about it though, it can’t possibly any worse.
